With London Fashion Week coming to an end, it's always great to recap what some of our favorite Brits are sending down the runway. However, this season, a usual fan favorite was noticeably missing from the lineup: Alexander McQueen.
Although the late Alexander "Lee" McQueen tragically passed in 2010, his name lives on through his designs and his successor, Sarah Burton.
The definition of avant-garde, McQueen collections are always bold and sometimes beautifully unwearable. Often a moving art installation more than an accessible fashion line, McQueen designs shown on the runway inspire thousands of designers, artists, and individuals in the fashion industry.
This season, that inspiration was missing from the closely watched runway. So, in order to get our McQueen fix, we decided to dig deep into the late designer’s approach.
Filled with elegant draping, sophisticated neutrals, show stopping prints and cool leather details, we learned that the McQueen runway shows are truly over-the-top productions meant to inspire the audience, while the ready-to-wear collections on the site are perfect everyday pieces.
For spring, start shopping for practical florals and elegant silhouettes. From flouncy, feminine skirts to rigid and defined fitted dresses, it’s the perfect time of year to start a McQueen-inspired collection of your own.
