As they used to say on the TV show Bonanza, “The family that games together, stays together.” But what’s the best family-friendly gaming console? The kid-friendly Wii seems like the obvious choice, but where the entire family’s concerned, you might want to opt for the Playstation 3 ($249.99) from Gamestop. While all play great games, the PS3 has a bunch that the whole family can play at the same time, and will actually want to.
Here’s a few that we especially like, all of them available at Gamestop.
Ben 10 Galactic Racing ($39.99).
Based on the cartoon, this driving game has up to four players racing around tracks on colorful alien worlds, and is simple enough that even dad might win once in a while.
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One ($59.99)
If you’re more into co-operation than competition, this is a cartoony science-fiction action game in which four players work together to solve puzzles and blast aliens. Though to play this, Ben 10, or any other games together, you’ll need some extra controllers, which you can get for $54.99 each.

Everybody Dance ($39.99)
For a game that’ll get the whole family off the couch, this dance contest has you shakin’ yer booty along with the on-screen dancers to songs both the young (Usher) and, er, more seasoned dancers in your clan (Barry White) will enjoy. Though to play it, you’ll need some PlayStation Movie Motion Controllers ($49.99 each) and a PlayStation Eye Camera ($39.99)
Another bonus with the PS3 is that it can also play Blu-rays, which means you can watch have your own movie night. But if you do, be sure to invest in a PS3 Blu-ray Remote Control ($24.99) from Gamestop, as it’s easier to use than the controller when you need to pause a movie for a bathroom break.
So, when should we come over?
