Wait. You’re not still rocking the work boot look, are you? Or that old pair of camel, suede lace ups? There’s no shame in it, but it really is about time you gave those old boots the proverbial “boot” and stepped up to the newest trends in men’s boots. There’s a lot out there, and nothing updates an outfit quicker than bringing your footwear up to date.
For every lifestyle -- corporate to creative field -- and every price range – starving student to C-level executive – there’s a pair of boots to suit your suit, or your denim. Lace up brogues are the latest, taking the look of a formal shoe and extending it up past the ankle. Styles look best in either black or brown, both colors being quite versatile from office to weekend.
Chukka boots, or some would call the style a desert boot, with crepe rubber soles and suede uppers, are also showing up in a big way. They’re made even better by their new, bold colors. Light brown takes a back seat to tangerine orange and electric blue. But don’t let their loudness fool you. They are quite easily toned down by a dark-rinse denim and a more conservative shirt.
The Chelsea pull-on style, with elastic gussets on the sides, is also quite popular this season, in shined up black. But, if distressed is more your style, then rugged looking, slim-lined lace ups should fit the bill. Leave biker boots to the Harleys and try, instead, a slimmer harness boot, complete with O-ring hardware. And, if it’s outdoorsy you crave, try some rubber-tipped duck boots, equally suited to the office, a date or splashing around in some puddles.
