Winter Accessories for Men

3 cold-weather staples and how to wear them…

With cold weather settling in to many parts of the country, it’s time to start digging through storage to find every warm piece of clothing you own. And when it comes to keeping your extremities warm, don’t forget hats, scarves, and gloves. Yes, men, you, too. While the word “accessories” might seem reserved for the ladies, you need to keep your head and hands toasty, too. That’s why we compiled this list to guide you through the upcoming months of frigid temps.

Hats

From baseball caps to Russian ushankas, you can find the hat that works for you. Are you one of the lucky few that lives somewhere snow is a rarity? Then you might be able to get away with a baseball cap. But if you reside in a place more apt to below-freezing temperatures, investing in the classic Russian ushanka, could be worthwhile. Want something a little more middle of the road? A basic beanie works no matter where you live or what you’re doing. Stick with a timeless neutral such as black or beige or go a little crazy with a fun pattern to add some interest to whatever you wear.

Scarves

Scarves are a great way to add a little personality to your outerwear wardrobe while keeping you warm at the same time. Having a few on hand is key, allowing you to match your scarf to your mood… and the weather. Plaid is always a safe bet, with plenty of variety when it comes to color. A warm and luxurious cashmere scarf goes great with anything from a pea coat to a leather jacket - and is sure to keep you warm, no matter how windy it gets.

Gloves

Crucial in keeping your hands from turning into icicles, gloves serve more of a practical purpose than a stylistic one. Want a bit of edginess? Then you can’t go wrong with a pair of leather gloves (just make sure they’re lined for the ultimate in warmth). Are you constantly on your phone? Make sure you add a pair of tech gloves to your collection, allowing you to use your mobile without removing your gloves. Another great option is the convertible glove, which gives you the comfort of a mitten while still letting you use your fingers to type on your phone and drink your coffee.

Gloves

As with anything fashion related, don’t be afraid to have fun with it! Accessories are the perfect opportunity to express your personal style - and just because something is functional, doesn’t mean it can’t be fashionable, too.
