Face the Colder Months With New Winter Skincare

Winter skin is in…

It’s quite obvious that as the weather changes, so do the fashion and makeup trends. But did you know that your skincare should be seasonal as well? Moisturization is key, of course, but there’s much more you should know before you face the colder months.

Moisture First:

Your spring/summer moisturizer works well, but change it up come fall and winter. Look for an oil based ointment style moisturizer, to form a helpful barrier to the dy cold. Avocado, primrose and almond oils are perfect for the face as they protect without clogging pores.

Winter Skincare Tips

Good Morning Sunshine:

Sure, it’s not hot, but the sun still bears down even in winter. This means you cannot forgo the SPF treatment. Stick to lip balms with SPF 15 or higher, and keep your kissers protected against the drying winter sun.

Winter Skincare Tips

Play Misty:

Central heating warms the air but dries it out as well. Plug in a humidifier, especially in the office or bedroom, to keep moisture dispersed. And when in doubt, lotion, lotion, lotion! Lathering up daily will help you keep ahead of dry skin.

Winter Skincare Tips

Expert Exfoliation:

Yes, dry skin can benefit from exfoliation, but choose wisely. Avoid clay-based masks, which rob the skin of much needed moisture. Aim instead, for cleaning milk, alcohol free toners and hydrating masks, which rid the face of flakes without zapping the good stuff.

Cool Down:

Though nice, hot baths and showers feel sensational, your skin isn’t benefiting. Keep it short with lukewarm water in the winter months, adding perhaps a bit of oatmeal or baking soda to relieve itchiness.

With the right skincare, you can go barefaced in winter with confidence.
