St. Patrick’s Day is almost here and many of us, Irish or not, love a chance to channel our inner Leprechaun. If this describes you, get your green gear ready, hoist a Guinness and get your St. Patrick’s Day party on.
Green Décor
From your dining room table to your living room, you should have the color of the Irish sprinkled around your house. A striped green tablecloth, a wreath for your front door made of green and gold metallic balls, a Shamrock light for your window, green pillows for your couch and green shamrock garland or strings of light will announce to all who come into you home: a St. Paddy’s Day party is about to commence. Oh, and don’t forget the Leprechauns. There are jumbo, inflatable Leprechauns (which you could bravely display on your lawn), or smaller statues to put on your mantel. Get many of them.

Outfits For Him
Unless you’re a ginger (and if you’re Irish, this is certainly within the realm of possibility), green isn’t the most attractive color to wear. But, you know the rules: if you’re not wearing green, you’ll get pinched. If you’re not going to wear a head-to-toe green outfit, consider a few accents. For men, a green tie (you should totally wear a suit), and a pocket square. If you’re not wearing a suit, green-accented socks are a must, and so is a pin that says, “Kiss Me I’m Irish.” For the more casual celebrant, there are stylish Guinness T’s, which combine two of the Irish people’s favorite things (green and Guinness beer). You could also be sneaky and wear St. Paddy’s boxer shorts. If someone tries to bust you can let them sneak a peek.

Outfits For Her
Ladies can wear that pin, too, but a sexy, deep emerald green dress would ensure that everyone at the party will want to kiss you, with or without a pin. But if you want casual, go with a charcoal T, emblazoned with the words, “Luck of the Irish,” adorned with the colors of the Irish flag. It’s not green, but it’s pretty. Grab a bangle from which four leaf clovers dangle. On your feet: socks with green cocktails.

Liquid Green
Green, not the most appetizing color to start with, doesn’t shout, “delicious!” when that’s the color of your booze. However, there are quite a few cocktails that are actually tasty and even look pretty in the glass. Forget Appletinis (gross): try a green iced tea (with tequila, cucumber, lemon), or a frozen mojito (blended with white rum, lime juice, and a mojito mix), or an Irish Julep (made with bourbon and crème de menthe). Keep some mint sprigs on hand for garnish.

Irish Beer
The Irish are no slouches when it comes to their beer. From Guinness to Murphy’s Pub, you could stock a bar solely with Irish booze (Guinness alone has about eleventy billion varieties). Serve something like Beamish (also dark and sweetish like Guinness) or O’hara’s Celtic Stout (made by Carlow Brewing Company, a tiny town in Barrow Valley), or something lighter, like Harp Lager, and you’ll impress even native Irishmen. You’re going to need some good pint glasses and since this will be a high-volume affair, a “Beer Tender” might be in order. You should also be serving those beers in proper Stout glasses. Cheers!
