With a light touch…

The summer sun has gone away, and the days are getting shorter. This time of year, to achieve a warm, welcoming home, you can’t just rely on opening up the blinds and letting the sunshine in. It’s time to strategize. As always, we’re here to help.

Candlelit Living

If you are lucky enough to have a fireplace, then you already know the cozy feeling a roaring fire inspires. For those without, kick your lighting game old school and invest in an array of chic candles to create a grotto-like lighting scheme. A cluster on a coffee table, or raised on a candelabra, flicking firelight sets a perfect mood for a dinner party or a date night.

Bulbs and Shades

Maybe you have some lighting fixtures you love, but could use a little seasonal update. These days you’re not limited to any set standard when it comes to luminescence, as there’s a wide range of tones to choose from. Why not swap out your white bulbs for something with a bit of warmth? Or, for a more stylish change of pace, look for lampshades that enhance your lighting and decorative scheme. Try shades in your favorite fall colors – plum purples, rustic oranges or deep reds. And don’t forget that lampshades can be an easy way to add another pattern into your décor.

Unexpected Touches

When it comes to lighting, there isn’t one right approach, so why not try something a bit unconventional? That now dark window you relied on in the summer can be framed with an oversized arch lamp. LED lighting under cabinetry or furniture can add a pop of color, as well as subtle functional lighting. Check out a non-permanent chandelier style fixture to bring a festive vibe to a hallway or dining area.

This fall, with all the lighting options around, you don’t have to be left in the dark.
