Back in the day (cue old lady voice), we used to get books, journals, and tapes for the holidays as a teenager. But today, everything’s gone digital, making tech-based presents de rigueur.
Dress up your device
Chances are the teen or tween in your house has a smart phone; the odds are pretty good that they are the owner of an iPhone. And the odds are even better that they like to express themselves with colorful, dynamic cases. There’s something for everyone—from the girly girl to the minimalist.
Play that funky music
We have never met a tween or teen that wasn’t music obsessed. Indulge their obsession by getting them some cool MP3 and cell-phone compatible speakers or a pair of stylish headphones. And not just any speakers or headphones. For the speakers, we like the Angry Birds Pig Speaker featuring that funny green piggy wearing his trademark helmet. If you have an Android fan in the house, get a portable speaker shaped like little green Android man. Or, if you want to make sure they aren’t always blasting that music, get a pair of cushy over-the-ear Urban Ear headphones in bright, trendy colors like lime green or fuchsia.
Play that (old school) game
Your teen or tween may not have been around for the Atari the first time around, but you can introduce them to the original video game system using an ultra modern device (the iPad) and the Atari Arcade Duo Powered for iPad, a throwback controller that has joysticks to better play classics like Asteroids and Pong!.
