Hats are back…

By Hannah Rogers |

Hats are stylish accessories that are often overlooked. This winter – and now the approaching spring – hats are back and are more fashionable than ever. There are some styles that will keep you warm on chilly days, while others serve to shade you from that crisp sunshine, while others are simply a trendy addition to your outfit (ain’t nothing wrong with that). Regardless of their function, hats should never be a fashion afterthought; here’s how to wear a hat so you’re sure to stand out.

Relaxed Beanies

Slouchy knit hats, or beanies, are all the rage lately (and are also super cozy). Cable knit beanies in a neutral color like cream, taupe, olive, or black are very trendy right now (especially marled colors), but to make this look work for spring, pick a soft shade of gray, pink, or powder blue. While the winter is still here, definitely opt for a beanie with a faux fur pompom for an extra touch of femininity and fun!

Fashionable Fedoras

Make a statement in a felt or wool fedora and you’ll be the talk of the town. Fedoras add hip sophistication to your look and come in all kinds of colors – we love a maroon or cranberry-colored fedora, or one in warm camel tone. Fedoras can dress up a laidback outfit, like skinny jeans and a flannel, and also look adorable when worn with a chunky sweater draped over a bohemian dress and tall boots.

Chic Floppy Hats

A floppy wide-brimmed hat is our favorite winter-to-spring accessory. Choose a black or dark charcoal one for a cold day, and a light-colored one (like a dusty mauve, lavender, or cream) for a sunnier day. Two-toned floppy hats are the newest trend and are extremely versatile as they can work for multiple seasons – almost like two hats in one. Floppy hats also often have details like leather strings, southwestern bolo-style ties, fabric belts, beading, and even feathers that make this sexy hat super stylish. Wear a floppy hat with an off-the-shoulder sweater or a cold-shoulder top and start turning some heads.

Anyone can pull off a hat with these tips, so don’t be shy to make a statement, ladies. Pick out a cute hat and then build your outfit around it – you’ll feel confident, put-together, and will look like a total fashionista.
